Uttarakhand is also called Dev Bhoomi i.e. the place of God.
When pilgrims come to this place they have opportunity to visit some other places in
neighborhood. A short list of these places is summarized here:
-
Ritha Sahib:
Gurudwara Reetha Sahib is only 60 Kms. by flying distance in the north of Nanakmatta
Sahib, but the distance by motorable road is 209 Kms.
It is 166 Kms. from Tanakpur, the last railway station on Bareilly - Tanakpur section.
Here Guru Nanak Dev Ji made the normally bitter fruit of a soap nut
(Reetha or Ritha in Hindi / Gurumukhi ) tree sweet for Bhai Mardana to feed on.
- Nanakpuri Tanda: Gurudwara Nanakpuri Sahib is also associated with the Guru Nanak Dev ji.
It is nearly 50 Kms from Nanakmatta Sahib.
He came here at the request of Bhai Hara Singh. During those days, the Rohilla Pathans of this area
were involved in child trafficking. He ended this evil at that place.
In the guise of a child, he sat on a pile of stones. A Rohilla Pathan caught him and sold him to a
merchant for two horses. The merchant set him on the job of scaring away parrots from his garden.
But, when the child stepped into the garden, it dried up.
